by LoriG on Feb.08, 2010, under The Fox Early Mornining Show

This time it’s the Monday after a big game. The Super Bowl hangover, ay? Just the “food hangover” not “beverage hangover” for me! UGH! Can you say ‘HELP! I’M RETAINING SO MUCH WATER THAT I CAN’T GET UP!”  Well I will…Holy moly…gotta love all the salty, cheesy, fattening “blood won’t get to your feet for a year” kinda food! Can someone please come by here with a water pill or some kind of diuretic please or even a pin…yeah…to let some water outta this bod. Hey thanks.  OH AND…CONGRATULATIONS TO THE SAINTS!!! WOOOHOOOO! Take that Manning! That’s what ya get for hurting my Jets’ feelings. hehehehehehe! Bob O agrees with me. He better or else.

SO……………………. your Monday show. We welcomed a great bunch of guys into the studio from the “Poughkeepsie New Yorkers Barbershop Chorus.”  They are having a fundraiser called “The Singing Valentines” this weekend.  They’ll go anywhere you’d like them to and serenade a loved one and present them with a beautiful long-stemmed rose too! What? Ya missed it? Check out our Fox Folder for all the info or to listen live, click this link …barber shop

We’ll do this all week as well, so make sure you’re listening each morning to win!!  Congratulations Michelle Conklin of Port Jervis, our winner this morning!

The movie this morning was “There’s Something About Mary” and guessed by Theresa Lothian of Port Jervis. Two tickets to Destinta went to Theresa AND… our Brainbuster Trivia was won by Joe Cronin of Warwick for knowing some 3rd Grade U.S. History that I (not BOB…ME!) threw your way. What was New York City known as in the year 1626? It’s New Amsterdam! Joe won a $25 gift certificate to Carole and Company Fine Estate Jewelry! We’ll have another to give away tomorrow!

NOW, onto the “impending snowstorm” or whatever it is we’re getting tomorrow night into Wednesday. “They’re” saying we could get  a significant amount of the white stuff.  So, whatever happens, keep it here to the Fox for all of your up-to-the-minute weather forecasts and updates.  And of course, if need be…we will be here activating the Fox Storm Center with any and all closures and delays!

It’s Friday again!

by LoriG on Feb.05, 2010, under The Fox Early Mornining Show

Look at that. How fast did your Friday get here this week?  And as Darcy blogged, yes it is Super Bowl weekend and yet another reason to pig out! Although I disagree with my friend as far as adding it to the list of “holidays to pig out” on. I thought everyday was a reason to eat the saltiest things on earth!  No? What!!! It isn’t? No wonder I’m retaining more water than the Hudson River has in its bed.  Jeez Darce ya should’ve told me that! hehehehe!

Hey check this out! We gave away a whole bunch of tickets to see “Rock of Ages” for this Sunday night at 7:30!! Congrats to Wendy McCaw, Rene Vinciguerra and Sherri Dolan!! The girls are all going to the show Sunday Night! I’ve been hinting to the boss man all morning long to let me gather up a bunch of ya ya’s and take them to a show in New York! Yeah, we’ll put you on my “ya ya train” to New York and we’ll take in a show. How much fun would that be! Harass the boss for me. I’ve already got six ya ya ’s ready to rock and roll!! hehehehehehe..anyhow, if you didn’t win your tickets, fret not…TOMORROW MORNING BEGINNING AT 6AM, JOHN ROBERTS WILL GIVE AWAY MORE TICKETS TO SUNDAY NIGHT’S SHOWING OF ”ROCK OF AGES! Make sure you’re listening to him tomorrow!!

We have a lot of good things lined up for you next week! We’ll give away a dozen roses from Central Market Florist in Price Chopper valued at $29.99 and a $50 gift certificate for lunch or dinner to Cosimo’s on Union, Rt. 300 in Newburgh! It will be a cinch to win! Just listen for the “kiss” sounder, be caller number ten and you’ll win! We’ll give that away all week long…good luck!  We will also have tickets to see David Stone’s “Johnny Cash Tribute” that will be held at the Paramount Theater in Middletown, Saturday Feb. 13th at 8pm! So be sure to listen and win your two tickets to the show.  We also have our usual Morning Movie Madness giving you a chance to win two tickets to Destinta Movie Theaters in New Windsor. Lee Gerow of Middletown won his two tickets for knowing “Shawshank Redemption.”  Brainbuster Trivia will once again be sponsored by Carole and Company Fine Estate Jewelry all next week.  You could win a $25 gift certificate for answering-as Bob O puts it-my STUPID question. This morning Janet Hendricks of Port Jervis got my STUPID question. Thanks “O” man, for the kind words.  A Men’s Health survey claims 13% of bosses admit they SLEEP at work. Uh, yeah. For fear of a pink slipping entering my office and finding its way to my desk, i’ll -for once- keep my mouth shut. LOL  Heeey I heard that!

Well I hope we don’t get any of the white stuff. As I’m blogging, they still don’t know what track the storm is taking! It figures. But if you do get hit with it, be safe and have a good weekend! Oh, and one more thing…GO SAINTS! And although I’ll be watching the game for the commercials, I’ll be cheering on the boys and do hope the Saints take it!  I’LL talk to you Sunday morning at 6 if ya dare to join me, however Bob and I will be back together again Monday morning beginning at 6!  Don’t eat too much. And if you do….GOOD FOR YOU! Have a good one!

not the weekend for that!

by Darcy on Feb.04, 2010, under Uncategorized

The Colts play the Saints this weekend and the biggest question is, “Does anyone REALLY care?” This is a perfect weekend for one thing: PIGGING OUT! It’s like a reprieve for those who are in a tizzy since the new year. We now have a new addition to the “Food Holiday” Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years Eve and now- SUPERBOWL! And with Valentines Day a week away, the better the blend. It’s always better when we have an excuse to eat wings, pizza and the saltiest things on the planet. I’m just doing my part!

Your Brainbuster Trivia question WASN’T stupid this morning. However it did get ya thinking a little bit. It was a little 3rd Grade World Geography that Bob O found extremely difficult. LOLOLOL! Hey, that’s what he gets…picked on cause I DO ALL THE WRITING.  When you answer Rhode Island to this question…SOMEONE NEEDS TO GO BACK TO SCHOOL: What land mass on Earth is known as the “island” continent? It’s Australia! LOLOLOL  …rhode island…LOLOL I’m only kidding he’s not that uh du… not that stup…uh….not that clueless. Yeah that’s it. He knows Rhode Island’s not a continent.  According to him, it’s a country. So see, he’s not stupid. LOLOL I’m playing again. Ya see it’s the only way I get to vent. And you our listener has the honor of listening to my rants and raves. HEHEHEHHE! Sorry folks.  Well, anyway Deb Taylor of Middletown won the $25 gift certificate to Carole and Company Fine Estate Jewlery. Enjoy!!

and it snowed just enough to make it “yuck” and slippery.  Needless to say…

YET ANOTHER DELAYED START TO YOUR DAY AND SCHOOL DELAYS too!  We activated the ‘ol Fox Storm Center for you. Hope you arrived safely to your destination. We’re “watching” a possible bigger storm to hit this weekend. Keep it here we’ll keep you posted with your up to the minute information!!

We were able to get to Morning Movie Madness this morning. Congrats to Julian Price of Newburgh for knowing “Inglorius Basterds,” winning two tickets to Destinta Theaters in New Windsor!

Brainbuster Trivia is sponsored by Carole and Company Fine Estate Jewelery, giving you a $25 gift certificate! Congrats to Kelly Cosgrove of Wallenpaupack, PA. Our question was this: A recent Purina survey found that only a little over half of cat owners do this all of the time. What?  Recycle their cat food cans!  I know,  I know it was a “stupid” question, according to Bob O anyway.  Us dog peeps do it too.  Don’t you?

The Fox Storm Center took up some of the morning but we’ll be back on schedule tomorrow with more of the craziness that we do here in the mornin’. Gott a run…have a good one my friend.

Anyone for groundhog kabobs?

by LoriG on Feb.02, 2010, under The Fox Early Mornining Show

Yup-he did it.  Punk Phil saw his shadow and in groundhog terms that translates to six more weeks of winter!  Eh, what does a rodent know anyway?  Actually, now that we’re thinking about it…they know more than some “weather people” do.  Hey, statistics show the furball’s right 40% of the time and that’s a lot higher than some of our cloud gazers’ predictions! Right? Okay I’ll be nice.  NOT!  Sorry if I’ve offended any meteorologists out there. Or groundhog lovers.  NOT!  Hehehhehehhehehe! I better quit while I’m ahead before I find “Phil’s” head in my bed. Or worse yet, Al Roker’s head. Ew that’s gross.  Bob O stop MAKING me type these bad things.  Onward…

Deborah, (medium and intuitive) from Being Knowing Doing made it in this morning. She spent a couple of hours with us taking all your phone calls! Check out her website, www.beingknowingdoing.com.  The center is located at 372 Fullerton Avenue in Newburgh. Contact Deborah at 845-784-5390 or email her deborah@beingknowingdoing.com   *For entertainment purposes only.

Because of Deborah spending some time with us this morning, we didn’t get to Morning Movie Madness. However, we did get to Brainbuster Trivia.    Q:  Farmers often add the petals of which flower to chicken feed in order to give egg yolks a bright yellow color?   MARIGOLDS. Congratulations to Kim Mercilliott of Cuddebackville, NY-winning a $25 gift certificate to Carole and Company Fine Estate Jewelery!  Another one up for grabs tomorrow!

Oscar Noms came in this morning!  Here’s the noms for Best Picture:    “Avatar, ” “The Hurt Locker,” “Up in the Air,” “Precious,” “Inglorius Basterds,” “An Education,” “District 9,”  “Up,” “Invictus,” “The Blind Side.”  You can get the complete list of the nominations, visit www.abcnews.com!

Toyota says it has a FIX for gas pedals and fix-it kits will soon be arriving at a dealership near you! A piece of steel about the size of a postage stamp will fix the gas pedal problem that led to the recall.  Repairs will take about 30 minutes and will start in days. Many dealerships plan to stay open around the clock to make the repairs. If you own a Toyota and want more information on the recall, go to www.toyota.com/recall/

Have a good one! We’ll chat “idol” tomorrow as we’re near Hollywood week!  Enjoy.

So just  do it and you’ll find out soon enough! :-)

Well today is the first day of February, isn’t it? And tomorrow that rodent crawls out of his little abode to see if he sees his shadow, right?  “Phil” that is.  Well,  I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again…even though I don’t believe the whole thingy about the “hog” predicting whether or not there will be six more weeks of winter yaddayaddayadda…I do believe, however, he at least gets it RIGHT! A hell of a lot more than the weather people can!!!   So Phil, listen to Lori G…ya better NOT see your shadow!  Bring on Spring (is that how it goes? who cares…onward ) or i’ll be carrying a brand new groundhog handbag!  That’s right! Hear that PETA! lolololol Okay, okay, okay, you know I wouldn’t do that to the poor little helpless animal.  I’ll make Bob O do it-he eats those things too. Hehehhehehehhehehhe….aaaaaaah….I need serious help. And OH….look at this. I”ve typed about a hundred words and said just about NOTHING! Hey, it’s what i do best. ANYWAY….

Deborah, our very own intuitive and medium, from Being, Knowing, Doing will be here TOMORROW MORNING instead! Deb had a personal issue to attend to this morning and apologizes to all that she couldn’t make it here!  However, HER GALLERY SCHEDULED FOR TONIGHT AT PETRILLO’S DUCKTOWN INN IN NEW WINDSOR IS STILL ON! Check it out! You can get more info at her website, www.beingknowingdoing.com

We took a few of your calls this morning as we talked about the “Terrorist Trial” and some of the locations it may be held and they’re very close to a lot of us-including the City of Newburgh!  City of Newburgh Mayor Valentine was on just about every major network newscast talking about the possibility of holding the trial here in Newburgh- and why he’s in favor of it!  Do you have any more thoughts about it? Get to the Fox Forum right here on our website and chat with other Fox listeners about the issue and share your viewpoints…we’d like to know as well!!  Or just talk about anything you’d like! It’s our very own chat room!!  Why don’t you chat about the Grammy’s!  We did. Did you happen to catch the show! Oh em gee! I thought the performance were awesome-well done this year! Congratulations to Taylor Swift, Beyonce and Lady Gaga-just to name a few of some big winners!

Don’t forget, tomorrow Deborah from Being, Knowing, Doing will be here at 6:30, just to remind you again.

Hey thanks for putting up with our long blogs :-)   Bob O really needs to practice brevity. Don’t ya think? LOLOL

Have a good one! Talk to you tomorrow morning at 6! xxxxxxxxxxx0000000000000

oops and after all that darn chatter box yapping ..forgot this…….the Morning Movie Madness movie was “Avatar”  Congrats to Victor Gallo of Newburgh and the answer to Brainbuster was “weather man”-congrats to Connor Wylie of Cornwall on Hudson winning that gift certificate to Carole and Company Fine Estate Jewelry. If you missed the  question, shame on you. You should’ve been tuned in at 8:20 for it! :-)

TG-TG-TG I F!

by LoriG on Jan.29, 2010, under The Fox Early Mornining Show

Share that sentiment with us, do ya?  But of course!

After yesterday’s debacle, we finally came to some sense of normalcy this morning. What a crazy day yesterday turned out to be with that “suprise” ice and snow storm.  Some places got about 4-5 inches of snow, but ALL of the roads were icy!! Hope this finds you okay!

Morning Movie Madness won by Wendy McCaw of New Windsor winning two tickets to Destinta Movie Theaters in New Windsor.  The movie was one of my favorite’s “The Proposal.” I highly recommend it! Love Sandra Bullock! And now I have a new favorite actor,  the hotty of hottys -Ryan Reynolds. Where has he been hiding all these years! Whooooa baby! Is it hot in here or just another hotflash?    Someone open a window…please!?

Your Brainbuster Trivia question was this:  It was this date in 1996 that “Cats” became the longest running musical with 6,138 performances. What musical was the previous record holder? (”A Chorus Line”) Congratulations to Erica Diaz of Bloomingburg, NY.  Milton-Bradley’s “Trivial Pursuit” was grabbed by Erica for knowing the answer!  Next week’s Brainbuster Trivia is sponsored by Carole and Company Fine Estate Jewelry. You could win a $25 gift certificate!

Monday morning  at 6:30, our very own intuitive and medium, Deborah, from Being, Knowing Doing will be in the studio with us once again!  We’ll open up the Fox phone and take your calls.   You can visit Deborah’s website www.beingknowingdoing.com  to find out what she has going on. In fact, she has a “Gallery Reading” scheduled for Monday night. Tune in to find out where she will be and time!     *For entertainment purposes only!

Join me Sunday morning-if you dare- as I fly solo from 6a-10a.  Thank God! They make Bob O stay home!! :-)   The both of us will be back with you Monday morning at 6.  Have a nice, warm weekend!

all in vain…

by Darcy on Jan.27, 2010, under Darcy, Uncategorized

I keep a clean house, but my car on the other hand… not so much. God forbid I’m in an accident, the paramedics would flip a coin to who gets me out. Not due to trash, due to dog hair! My two dogs shed enough for me to make a matress. Yucky thought, but truth hurts. Yesterday I took out the handi-vac and sticky stuff thinking I could clean it up. Long story short, I need to stick to thinking other stuff! I’m gonna write it off as that one day a week I pig out on whatever I wanna eat- the damage is done and it’s time to move on. The only good thing is at least the car is paid off. I just shudder each time I take it on for an oil change!
